Everyone, the new Android 8 emulators to be released in December will have Google Play Services 13. In addition our current plan is to update all Android emulators with the latest available version (13 or above) in January. Please reach out to me at chandra.yalangi@saucelabs.com if you have any questions.

This is a critical Issue which is affecting my test execution on Sauce because the app on which I'm working supports Goggle play services version 15.0.1. Could you people please update the Google play services version to 15.0.1 on Android Emulator 6.0.

    Hi Vasanth,

Yes updating to Google Play Services 15 is on our roadmap. Unfortunately it could take a month or 2 to update to GPS 15.

We need this resolved ASAP. It affects our work flow. It doesn't seem to be a challenging task to update the emulators and shouldn't take much time. Please assist. Thanks,

    Hi Arthur,

Let me follow up with my team. If we can start with one Android platform to unblock you which one would it be? Android 6 or 7? And which specific version of Google Play Services do you use?

    Hi Chandra,

Android Emulator(6.0) is used for our script execution and '15.0.1' is the Google Play Services supported version for our Ancestry app. So, could you please update the Google play services version to 15.0.1 on Android Emulator 6.0.

    Thanks,

    Vasantha

This is also a critical issue for our tests as well.  We need to be able to run an emulator that is using a newer version of Google play services.  At a minimum this version: 12874026, or 15.0.1.  We have a large number of tests that cannot run because of this issue.

    Hi Vasantha,

The latest version available from Play Store for Android 7.0 emulators is 14.7. I couldn't check for the latest version of GPS available on Android 6.0 emulators but my guess is that it is either 14.x or 13.x. In addition, unfortunately we won't be able to update to a new GPS version this quarter (before March 31st).

Any updates on this? My Android team heavily depends on automation in Sauce labs and this issue seems like a major blocker. If not resolved ASAP, it would make little sense for further collaboration with Sauce Labs for my team going forward. Please, resolve it ASAP. Thanks
